International Day of the Girl Child

International Day of the Girl Child: On December 19, 2011, the United Nations General Assembly adopted Resolution 66/170 to declare 11 October as the International Day of the Girl Child to recognize girls’ rights and the unique challenges girls face around the world. This is in recognition by the United Nations of the fact that empowerment of and investment in girls is critical for economic growth, the achievement of millennium development goals, including the eradication of poverty and extreme poverty, as well as the meaningful participation of girls in decisions that affect them. In 2012, the theme for the day was “My Life. My Right. End Child Marriages. “In 2013, the theme for the day was “Innovating for Girls’ Education.”In 2014, the theme for the day was “Empowering Adolescent Girls: Ending the Cycle of Violence” (UN website).

Our School

GSA is a private non profit Christian based school situated in Gumbo, Shirkat , Juba-Nimule road some five miles away from Juba city.
The academy is primarily set up to cater for emergency quality education of the displaced children who are temporarily settled in Juba and other places.
