Fr. John Chol and Sarah Alek are raising fund to help them purchase 118 desks for their school in Juba South Sudan. At least, they request you skipping 7 meals of $ 10, and you will save $ 70 to purchase a school desk for two pupils at Good Shepherd Academy, in South Sudan. Both John and Sarah founded the school. They both said they had most part of their primary and secondary school education under the tree sitting on a bench built by mud, in villages and in IDP and refugee camps. “I wrote my class assignments and classwork on the floor during the class” says John. When South Sudan gained independence from Sudan, Fr. John returned home to start Good Shepherd Academy. His wife Sarah continues to study for her undergraduate Psychology degree and caring for their boys. John and Sarah felt the children of school going age should access education, and not to be allowed to experience the type of less quality education they have received. John and Sarah want to see children receiving quality education, not under the tree, not sitting on the mud benches, but under a roof, and sitting on a considerable bench. GSA has 237 pupils in 6 classes. Some of them sit on a plastic chair and others sitting on the mat. Its in this context, John and Sarah are asking fund for GSA to purchase 118 desks. Two children will share a desk. Please help Fr. John and Sarah purchase 118 desks to seat all the pupils and be comfortable learning at GSA. St. Brendan’s Church in the City is collecting your contributions and will forward it through Good Shepherd Educational Foundation in USA………………………
